About Me

Julianne Owen is a fourth-year undergraduate student at the University of Florida. She is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering and is interning at NASA's Johnson Space Center in Houston. Through the Pathways Program, Julianne supported the Artemis missions from JSC in the Fall of 2021, Summer of 2022, and Spring of 2023. She completed a Responsible Conduct of Research certificate in the Fall 2020 semester. She hopes to continue to foster her professional skills through research and collaboration this semester, as well as form new connections.

Originally from Jacksonville, Florida, Julianne moved to Ponte Vedra Beach in 2016, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude from Ponte Vedra High School in May of 2020. She participated in STEM-based competitions, such as The American Rocketry Challenge and VEX Robotics, and she led multiple engineering teams in high school. Her experiences on teams, both academic and athletic, led to her gaining a strong appreciation for communication, collaboration, and creativity.

At the University of Florida Julianne served on the Student Honors Organization’s Academic and Professional Committee and was a Professional and Networking Development Ambassador with the Freshman Leadership Engineering Group. She is involved in UF’s Undergraduate Research Scholars Program, UF’s NASA Student Launch Rocket Design Team, Society of Women Engineers, and UF’s chapter of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics.  Outside of school she enjoys reading, painting, rock climbing, and playing both beach and indoor volleyball.

 

Her industry experience has led her to develop a strong desire to work for a company with kind and passionate employees, who are as excited about new developments within the aero/astro community as she is. She is planning on continuing her studies in a graduate program focused on either geological and planetary sciences or on GN&C following her graduation from the University of Florida in Fall 2024.
